Carved into the rock face in the Edakkal caves we find the form of what appears to be a feminine form, which has a sense of movement and grace. In fact one is reminded of the figure of a dancing woman that was discovered in the Mohenjodaro civilization, which some scholars have related to a ritual dancer comparable to the later idea of the temple dancer.
